Torsten Schimmer, born in 1978, studied International Media and Technology at the University of Applied Science in Berlin.

During his studies he started working for the German broadcast companies SAT1 and PRO7 as Camera Assistant and worked as an intern in the International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT) in Cebu. During his time as an intern he studied subjects like Cinematography, Directing, Editing and Producing. Torsten was also able to finish two short films as director and was in charge of producing, shooting and editing Behind the Scenes for two music videos (Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang & Where Are You Now) and the feature film (Irreversi) for the mother company of IAFT, Bigfoot Entertainment.

After finishing his degree in Berlin, Torsten returned to Cebu and worked as Cameraman and Production Manager for Fashion TV Philippines and Singapore. His work as a Cameraman gave him the opportunity to shoot Fashion Shows and Events around Asia. Throughout his year in Fashion TV, Torsten started shooting Underwater Fashion clips and made Underwater Videography his specialty.

For the next two years Torsten was working as an in-house cameraman for Bigfoot Entertainment shooting Commercials (New Concept Mandarin), Music Videos, RealityTV Shows (Hollywood Bootcamp and Screentest) and Features (Deep Gold, Love Stinks). Since April 2009 Torsten was working as a Freelance Cinematograper until he founded the Berlin-based rental house tectum - raum&zeit | filmgeräteverleih in 2012.
